Health Security and Beyond: A New Paradigm for a Post-Pandemic World

The coronavirus pandemic has underscored how important our health is to the functioning of our interconnected societies. And it has exposed the devastating consequences of not taking seriously warnings about threats to our health.

In advance of the forthcoming G7 meeting, on June 8th and 9th from 11am-12:30pm EST, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵAPP will be hosting the Health Security Summit—a special two-part live virtual event organized with the Eurasia Group.

The Summit will bring together global leaders from politics, business and public policy to discuss the challenges of the pandemic, draw out the lessons to be learned, and to highlight our vision for health security where threats to our health are addressed preemptively.

The event will feature notable guests including Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Prime Minister of Greece; Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund; Matt Hancock, the UK Secretary of State for Health; Stéphane Bancel, the CEO of Moderna, and Albert Bourla, the CEO of Pfizer. A full list of speakers is available in the registration details.

In the lead up to the event, Flagship has also published a white paper which lays out a global Preemptive Medicine agenda that focuses on preempting illness rather than waiting to treat disease once it has manifested. The paper describes what such a new approach will entail including maximizing the use of biological sciences and new technologies; changes in the relationships between individuals, the private sector, and the state; and the types of new policy, financial, and regulatory frameworks needed to carry out this ambitious agenda.
